Moss Bros suffer data breach exposing employee information
Moss Bros have contacted current and former employees to inform them that personal data pertaining to their employment has been exposed in a recent data breach.
On April 26, the clothing company discovered that their systems, which are hosted with a third-party provider, had been accessed without their authority.
Following this, a third-party forensic information technology expert was engaged to determine the source and outcome of the unauthorised access. It was then discovered that the unidentified third-party responsible for the incident had downloaded data from the servers operated by the service provider – including employee data.
Moss Bros have not disclosed exactly what data was exposed in the breach. However, they have confirmed that they store information including names, addresses, phone numbers, bank account details and employment records, all of which may have potentially been exposed.
Moss Bros have reported the incident to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and Action Fraud. They also claim to be working alongside their third-party experts to determine exactly how the incident occurred so that they can avoid a repeat in the future.
If you have been contacted by Moss Bros to inform you that your data has been exposed, or you have a strong suspicion that you have been affected, you may be in a position to claim compensation.
