LSH Auto UK contact current and former employees to report data breach
LSH Auto UK have contacted current and former employees to report a security incident which resulted in a significant data breach.
A letter sent out by LSH notes that the security incident in question led to the unauthorised access of personal data belonging to a number of individuals whose information is stored on their UK servers.
According to LSH, the company’s IT services provider reported a cyberattack on 3 June 2021 which disrupted access to their information systems and availability of information. This incident was likely caused by credentials being compromised and used to access LSH UK’s servers.
Internal investigations into the incident are said to be still ongoing, but it is understood that a certain number of UK servers were accessed by an unauthorised third party. The data stored on these servers included information in their HR systems.
This meant that personal data fell into the hands of those responsible for the cyberattack. The data in question includes:
- Contact details (such as names, addresses, phone numbers, date of birth)
- HR-related information (such as CV details and performance reports)
- Financial information (such as bank details, pension payments)
- Demographic information
- Criminal data
LSH have confirmed that they have reported the breach to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and the National Cyber Security Centre.
Although LSH claim that the data in question is not being misused, this does not mean that affected individuals cannot take action. In fact, there is a distinct chance that, if you have been affected by the LSH data breach, you will be in a position to claim compensation.
As has been widely reported in the press, action is currently being against LSH, with our team working with a growing number of people who have been affected by the incident. Hayes Connor have recently featured in Infosecurity Magazine, Car Dealer Magazine and Birmingham Mail to discuss the nature of the breach and what the next steps should be.
The team at Hayes Connor are ready to support anyone who has been contacted by LSH to inform them that their data has been exposed. To find out more about how you can make a claim, please get in touch.
